RetailNext has released its monthly Retail Performance Pulse reporting brick-and-mortar store performance metrics for the retail month of January (January 1-28 on retail industry’s 4-5-4 calendar). Physical stores saw declines in all performance metrics year-over-year with the exception of conversion, which increased 0.1 percent. While sales and traffic slipped 10 percent and 9.3 percent respectively, both were improvements over the month of December. However, both shopper yield and average transaction value reversed previous positive trends, dropping 0.7 percent and 0.8 percent.
The end of the month may have created a bit of momentum for February as both conversion and shopper yield increased in weeks 3 and 4, with ATV also up in week 4.
