Five Bruster’s locations will soon bring cool relief to the people of Phoenix, Arizona. The chain has signed a new franchise deal for the area, as part of its plans to rapidly expand in the western U.S., a news release said.

Retired East Coast sales and marketing executive, Dan Tarkoff, is the franchisee and is scouting Phoenix-area locations for inline, endcap or freestanding shops.

The Pittsburgh-based ice cream chain opened its first Arizona shop in Gilbert earlier this year. The brand signed development agreements last month to open locations in seven new markets, after reporting an 8.8 percent same-store sales increase in Q1 2017.
