According to data from online polling company CivicScience, US millennials are slightly more likely to be daily users of Instagram than of Snapchat. The latest data found that 34% said they used Instagram daily, compared with 28% for Snapchat.

Instagram has had a slight edge in daily users in the CivicScience poll since Q1 2016. The gap in the latest quarter is the widest the poll has found in the past seven quarters.

Similarly, Instagram and Snapchat have roughly parallel numbers of millennials who say either that they have never used the platform, or that they used to use it but no longer do.

Instagram has proven to be a potent competitor to Snapchat.

Instagram Stories, which launched in August 2016, now reaches more than 250 million users per day. That’s significantly more than Snapchat’s self-reported figure of 158 million daily global users as of Q4 2016.

But that’s not too surprising given Instagram’s large global footprint. Meanwhile, Snapchat is currently competing to stay ahead of its own ideas, like its Stories feature.
