Remodeling or designing your new kitchen or bathroom? Here are the latest trends for the coming year from cabinets to colors to lights and more.

Countertops – Quartz is in when it comes to countertops. Durable and stain-resistant, quartz is the hottest countertop option after years of granite dominance.

Cabinets – Exciting trends in cabinets are happening in a few ways. First is more function and flexibility in cabinet and drawer design. Multi-tiered drawers and cabinets that bend and open in new ways for smaller spaces are hot. Next up for cabinet trends is color. All white cabinets are still quite popular but is losing ground to soft gray painted or finished cabinets. Gentle gray is easier on the eye than bright pure white while still providing an open and bright look and feel. And one more big trend in cabinets – two tones of cabinetry with the lighter color or even bleached wood finish on upper cabinets with darker finishes on the lower cabinets.

Sinks – Farmhouse style large sinks are still hot, as are one-piece countertops with carved out sinks in various types of stone or composite. A newer growing trend for sinks are bright eye-catching colored sinks – think apple green and bright blue.

Metals – Metal finishes for faucets and cabinet hardware are shifting back to polished brass and even rose gold. Chrome and satin finishes are classics and won’t be going anywhere but the array of brass and gold tones coming back into style is good news for those tired of silver tones.

Tile – After a few years of popularity, subway tile is finally on the way out. In are unique shapes, patterns and textures in tile choices.

* Lighting – The big trends in lighting are bold and dramatic light fixtures and also unexpected or unique lighting fixtures that add visual interest to the space in new ways.

* Color – In a word – blue. All different hues and shades of blue are showing up everywhere from cabinetry to fabrics to appliances to sinks and more. Blue is the color of the coming year.

After a few years of safe staples and neutrals, the trends are shifting to once again embrace color, texture and unique options that make your space pop. The hottest kitchens and bath trends for 2018 are bringing fun back into design.  We invite you to our showroom at The Cabinet Market in Myrtle Beach to see how to make trends and timeless beauty work in your home.
