84% also open to using robotics for delivery services
Consumers are eager to use robotics technology in their lives — especially when it comes to household work and education.
That’s according to new research from the Consumer Technology Association, which found that 45 percent of U.S. adults are familiar with robotics, and 84 percent of them are enthusiastic about using it in everyday life.
One in five of the U.S. adults surveyed had already interacted with household robotics, and 90 percent said they appreciated the convenience of such devices as robotic lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners and window cleaners.
Educational robotics also received high marks, with 92 percent expressing enthusiasm for such things as coding and programming games.
Other findings from CTA’s “Robotics: Current Landscape & Consumer Perceptions” study:
- 84% percent were open to using robotics to deliver food and packages, primarily in urban settings;
- 67% were open to using robotics in a health care setting;
- 60% said robotics in health care will make life easier;
- 48% said the technology will save time; and
- 83% would be open to using robotics for in-store assistance and room service, but just 4% reported having interacted with retail or concierge robotics.
CTA’s “Robotics: Current Landscape & Consumer Perceptions” study was administered April 17-25 to an online national sample of 2,000 U.S. adults who are familiar with robotics.
