Lego recently released a model grand piano kit that has 3,662 pieces, according to Travel + Leisure. It’s not just something to look at and admire (and collect dust). The little piano makes sounds when you “play” it. All for the low price of $350.

Putting the delicate play-set together may possibly help ward off the boredom of being home during the coronavirus pandemic, with the added bonus that after the kit is completed, you can tickle the ivories – or in this case – white and black Lego keys.

The Lego-sized piano has 25 playable keys, each connected to their own hammer. It also works with a smartphone app to play songs on command, similar to old-time, player pianos. You can also compose and record your own music to play through the app.
Even better, the set even comes with an adjustable bench, moving pedals, a lid that opens and props open, a keyboard cover that folds back and a music stand. There are five songs that are also included that you can play through the app.
The inside of the piano looks similar to the real instrument, so anyone who enjoys the engineering aspect of putting together a Lego playset will enjoy the challenge.
Though the idea for the piano was submitted by Donny Chen, a Lego fan, the product was created by Lego designer Woon Tze Chee, who used many of the elements submitted, but added the ability of producing sound. Chen is a piano teacher and piano tuner.
Although the price seems a bit steep, that doesn’t stop Lego fans. It may prove hard to obtain with the initial interest and positive reaction to its release. Visit Lego’s website often to check availability.
