Dick’s Sporting Goods is just getting started when it comes to its experiental Dick’s House of Sport format.
The sporting goods giant celebrated the opening of nine new House of Sport stores in July and August (locations at end of article). The sites join the first three House of Sport stores in Victor, N.Y.; Knoxville, Tenn.; and Minnetonka, Minn.
Looking ahead, Dick’s anticipates opening between 75 to 100 House of Sport stores by 2027. It plans to open 20 locations during the next two years, including nine stores this year.
With an 100,000-sq.-ft.-plus store footprint, House of Sport combines an extensive assortment of products with in-store experiences that give customers an opportunity to try product while measuring and tracking their performance. The experiences include a climbing wall, multiple golf bays with TrackMansimulators and multi-sport cages that can be used for baseball, softball, lacrosse and soccer.
In addition, House of Sport stores also focus on deep integration with the local community through partnerships and events. Some locations have a field attached to the store that can be used for open play, clinics, league space or as an ice rink in the winter.
“It’s exciting that the feedback from customers has been so positive and the communities see the stores as a destination,” said Toni Roeller, senior VP, in-store environment, visual merchandising, Dick’s Sporting Goods.
