Sling TV’s free, ad-supported streaming service, Freestream, is continuing its aggressive expansion, with total channels offered to consumers and advertisers now exceeding 430, spanning more than 44,000 on-demand titles.

The Freestream brand was created less than a year ago, in February 2023, when Sling TV rebranded its Sling Free service. Sling Free had about 150 channels; Freestream launched with 210 channels and approximately 41,000 on-demand titles.

The latest channels, added last week in time for 2024, are Crime Files, Power Nation, The Grio and FilmRise’s America’s Dumbest Criminals.

Last month, the service added 17 channels, including Always Funny, Esr 24/7 Esports Network and its edeportes version, FilmRise’s Cheaters and Mysteries channels, Cheddar News, Crime Files, Combat War Channel, Glewed TV, Go USA, History Unsealed, Judge Faith, Paranormal Files, Players TV, Record News International, True History and Women Sports Network.

Genres on the service span news, sports, game shows, crime dramas, sitcoms, home improvement and cooking, among others. Popular channels/programming include CBS News, ABC News Live, ESPN on Demand, “The Walking Dead” universe, “Forensice Files,” “Heartland,” “Hell’s Kitchen” and “VH1 I Love Reality.”

The service is available through all Sling-supported services, but doesn’t require subscribing to one of Sling TV’s livestreaming packages. It can also be accessed through the Sling app on Roku, LG, Samsung and Vizio devices.

Consumers can also use the free Freestream service to subscribe to more than 50 standalone premium services, including AMC+, Discovery+, MGM+, Showtime and Starz.
